Psychic Energy Cords & The Ties That Bind – Part 3

Psychic Play & the Energy Exchange

A dear friend, we’ll call her Dianne, called me this afternoon. I knew that the call was coming as I had not re-established our link yesterday in meditation, but it is always refreshing to talk to Dianne, and so I was glad for the call.

Dianne has found her spiritual self in the third stage of her life, and so far her experiences in this area have been very positive. This has been a blessing in many ways for her and for her husband, Kevin, as they both have experienced a complete change in lifestyle, perspective and personal empowerment. With this has come a vast improvement in their physical, emotional and spiritual health and vitality.

Today, though I was reminded that with onlly such limited experience and thus understanding comes naivity, and with naivity comes a certain level of danger.

Dianne’s home is a hot-spot for spiritual phenomenon. Almost every week they have visitors come to stay and no one leaves that place without having experiencing something they cannot explain nor deny. Dianne and Kevin’s own lives are touched by these experiences on a daily basis. One common occurrence is the appearance of “extras” in photographs taken on the property, particularly around the house. Images not seen by the naked eye when the picture is taken which are clearly visible when the photograph is developed.

In her light-hearted, curious way, Dianne had got to wondering about the sheer volume and frequency of these appearances, and what might happen if she were to call them to her and actually invite them to be in a photograph. Would they understand?… How many would there be?… Wouldnt it be exciting?!…

You see where I’m heading. With child-like enthusiasm she poured out her adventurous plan to stand with open arms and open spirit and call them all to her, and have Kevin take a picture of her with her beloved “extras”. By this time I was virtually swallowing my tounge in an effort to find the words to stop her. Eventualy I was able to explain the dangers of opening one’s self up to unknown quantities.

The spiritual and physical bodies are vessels for energy. This energy comes from outside sources as well as from within. I have mentioned in previous articles the psychic energy cords which pass between us and those with whom we interact or relate emotionally on a day to day basis, and also the ways in which energy and even entities can be passed on to us through psychic work. Here I am reminded that potential danger lies, too, in psychic play.

Dianne’s plan to open herself up completely in order to draw these many spirits to her would leave her vulnerable on a spiritual, physical, emotional and mental level to the energy of every entity, living and deceased within range of her “light”. Any spirit who is lost or unable to find it’s way home may see that light as a beacon guiding them to their spiritual home, and thus be drawn toward her. Consider for a moment the potential number of spirits likely to see that light, and the sheer volume of residual energy left behind in a place as spiritually active as her home and the property on which it stands…

I think you’ll agree that the lesson learned in the previous article ( http://asilverpath.wordpress.com/2006/08/04/psychic-energy-cords-the-ties-that-bind-part-2/ ) on Psychic Work and the Energy Exchange, can also be applied to Psychic Play – that is;

“if you’re going to do this kind of thing, you better know what it is you’re bleedin’ doing”.

Psychic Energy Cords & The Ties That Bind – Part 2

Psychic Work & The Energy Exchange

Crucial to the emotional, physical, spiritual and mental health of anyone practicing any kind of psychic work is some understanding of – and means of dealing with – energy links and energy dumping. Psychic work leaves one especially suseptable because while giving a sychic reading the reader is open to information and energy from the seeker on an emotional, physical, spiritual and mental level. This means that negative energy is very easily accumulated and if not dealt with it can lead to serious problems.

It is easy to get carried away when first practicing psychic reading and this enthusiasm can lead to problems for the reader as well as the seeker. Because we may feel eager or even pressured to please or to impress our seeker with our new-found skill, we can find ourselves agreeing to do something which we do not have sufficient knowledge or experience to do. While this may occur once, twice or even several times without incident, the fact of the matter is that in doing so we do ourselves and our seeker a disservice, and potentially put ourselves in danger.

A perfect example of this is related by Paul Fenton-Smith in his book’ “A Secret Door to the Universe”:

I had a goal – I wanted to be the best clairvoyant in the country. My friends tried to reason with me…

‘How can you be ambitious for an immeasurable goal?’

I’d reply, ‘Call me hungry then.’ I wasnt simply ambitious to be the most well known, nor the most popular; just the best. I was young.

While travelling through England in the 1980’s I found myself working as a palmist and clairvoyant ten hours per day six days per week for a pittance. I didnt complain.

Shortly before I left London to travel further and before my return to Australia, my employer took a fortnight’s holiday and was replaced by another clairvoyant, Christine. She was a short, plump woman from London’s East End who enjoyed good conversation and a cup of tea. She proved to be a powerful channel for spiritual energy, and when working with her I found myself opening up spiriually and recieving information faster than ever before.

After I’d worked with Christine for three days I was giving detailed readings which had previously been impossible for me to do. I was suddenly detailing names, dates, full descriptions of the clients’ loved ones and having clear conversations with deceased relatives.

I thought that I had reached a point where I could be proud of my abilities. I had a lot to learn.

On the fifth day of working with Christine I found myself in trouble and had to seek her help. I had been reading for a woman who had requested that I contact someone on the “other side”. I blithely agreed to do so and tried to find someone to converse with.

In my mind’s eye I saw a man. He was tall, dark-haired, with a tight expression on his face. He lay on a stretcher bed with his eyes closed. I said “hello” to him, but recieved no response, so mentally I moved a little closer to him. I described his mid 1960’s-style black suit and his physical features to my client.

She told me the description fitted her late father. I moved a little closer to the man in my vision but still I received no response. I was squirming at this point, having given a physical description to my client, but no further information. I visualised opening my third eye wider, allowing my psychic awareness to increase. I sent a stream of energy across to him, reasoning “a little zap to give him a boost”. He seemed disoriented, but he sat up and we began to talk so I kept it short, thanked him and then left him alone again.

As I came out of the “trance” I found my client crying quietly. She confirmed that her father had died in 1965. After she left I read for two more people before resuming the long conversation I had been having with Christine.

The next few hours were quiet and our conversation was interrupted only by my groaning with stomach discomfort. During our conversation my stomach had been bloating, and if I had been a woman you’d have thought I was pregnant.

I asked Christine if she could assst me in clearing any negativity I may have collected from clients during the day. My usual cleansing techniques for clearing negative energy seemed ineffective.

Christine took a brief look at me and launched into a routine of puffing and blowing, a method she employed to shift her awareness for better psychic vision.

“You’ve picked up a spirit,” she said.

“What?” I asked blankly. I felt invaded and slightly paranoid at this point.

“It’s a man,” she continued. “He’s been over quite a while.” (‘Over’ means he is in the spirit world or deceased.)

“He is an older man, who is quite tall, with a funny suit on. Like he’s all dressed up.”

She went on to vlearly describe the man in the black suit I had seen in my meditation. I explained what I had seen during the reading, and that I’d given him a little zap of energy to enliven him. That’s when my lessons began.

“You shouldnt do that. You see, he’s gone over without any spiritual beliefs and he’s got himself stuck. A part of him knows that he’s got to find his way home now, but the rest of him doesnt know where or what home is.

“He’s spent his whole life in pursuit of material things and now he finds he’s not equipped to make it back. You’ve come along, sticking your nose in and splashing a bit of energy about and he thinks, ‘Oh there’s the light; there’s the way back home,’” she said.

“He follows the light to it’s source, which is you, and he climbs aboard.”

“So what happens now?” I asked, a sense of panic creeping over me.

“Well, in most cases, he’ll just settle there with you. He could move on if you spend time in the presence of someone with a brighter light than you, someone who has a closer connection with spirit than you. That person may not look or act any different than you, but a lost spirit like that man sees the difference.”

“In such cases, if the other person is wide open, such as during a psychic reading or a meditation, this spirit may mover towards them, especially if you’re physically close to them. The spirit interprets the brighter light as a step closer to home.”

“But surely I can simply go into meditation and pass the spirit over to the other side, or give it back to it’s spiritual home?”

“You can if you know how. A lot of people think that they can do this, when in fact they are doing nothing more than visualising that they are doing this.”

“Here, let me do it for you,” she said and spent the next five minutes huffing and blowing. My stomach returned to normal within ten minutes.

“If you’re going to do this work, you better find out what it is you’re bleedin’ doing.”

A more common problem is the collection of negative energy through the client themselves, and their desire to resolve painful issues through a psychic reading. The seeker subconsciously sends out a cord to the reader in response to their desire, and the reader sends out a cord (consciously or not) in order to retrieve the necessary information to resolve the seeker’s issues and thus becomes a vessel of sorts for those issues.

If the reader does not perform some kind of clearing or cleansing once the reading or succession of readings is complete, the negative energy is free to take it’s toll on the physical, emotional, spiritual and/or mental health of the reader and may even continue to flow into the reader at a slow trickle through the unsevered cords. The longer this negative energy is present, the stronger the effects it will have. These can vary from physical discomforts such as a sore or irritated throat, headaches, lethargy, stomach upset, bloating, loss of labido, etc. Some mental / emotional effects can be depression, paranoia, loss of inspiration/motivation, mood swings and irritability. Our spiritual health can be effected by this energy acting as a block to our spiritual growth or dulling psychic awareness.

In addition to the methods of energy clearing and cord-cutting mentioned in the previous article, “Psychic Energy Cords & The Ties That Bind”, there are several other techniques available. Some people find that physical exertion or tasks can help shift residual energy quite sufficiently. Breathing excersises similar to those employed during childbirth also work well for some. If a large amount of negative energy proves too difficult for the reader to shift for themselves, a session of reiki is a very effective way to cleanse and balance your energies and release any binds/cords. Or perhaps, if we’re lucky enough to have a ‘Christine’ in our lives, we can enlist the help of a spiritually awake friend to show us the way.

When all is said and done, prevention is better than cure, and generally speaking simple, regular meditation and cord-cutting excercises and a certain amount of moderation in psychic work can keep this under control, and will have the added bonus effect of boosting you psychic awareness.

And lets not forget: “If you’re going to do this work, you better find out what it is you’re bleedin’ doing.” ;)
